Sample Collection Made Simple
Collecting a quality sample is the first step toward obtaining a reliable DNA test result.
P3 accepts feather, eggshell, and capillary blood samples. Follow the instructions for your selected test, label each sample carefully, and include your printed Batch Slip when mailing your package.
Accepted Sample Types
Feather Sample
Freshly plucked feathers may be submitted for eligible DNA tests.
Keep feathers clean, dry, and separated by bird. Place each bird’s sample in its own clearly labeled bag.

Hatched Eggshells
Eggshells collected after a chick has hatched may be accepted for eligible tests.
Keep shells clean and dry, and package each bird’s sample separately.

Capillary Blood
A small capillary blood sample may be collected from the toe or during a toenail clipping.
Collect a small blood sample and place it in a clean, labeled microtube for shipment.

Purchase Testing Credits
Buy the credits needed for your selected test. One credit equals one sample.
Create Your Batch
Use your credits to enter each bird and sample. The system generates a Batch Number and Sample Numbers.
Print Your Batch Slip
Save your batch, print the Batch Slip, and include it with your shipment.

Save the batch and print the generated Batch Slip.

Place each sample in a separate bag or container and label it with its generated Sample Number.

Package samples securely and include the Batch Slip with your shipment.

Receive Results
The laboratory processes your samples and publishes completed results to your account.
