Description
Companion & Aviary DNA Sexing helps determine whether a bird is male or female using DNA-based testing. This test is especially useful for bird species where males and females look similar, where visual sexing is unreliable, or where sex cannot be confirmed confidently at a young age.
This test is designed for companion bird owners, aviaries, breeders, and facilities that need accurate information for pairing, breeding records, flock management, or customer documentation.
Supported bird groups may include:
Parrots
Cockatiels
Cockatoos
African Greys
Macaws
Conures
Amazons
Eclectus
Lovebirds
Lorikeets
Parakeets
Parrotlets
Quakers
Senegals
Indian Ringnecks
Doves
Pigeons
Finches
Canaries
After purchasing testing credits, customers will enter their sample details through the customer portal, generate a Batch Slip, label their samples, and mail them to the laboratory. Results become available in the customer dashboard once the batch has been processed.
This test can help with:
Identifying male and female birds when visual sexing is difficult
Supporting breeding and pairing decisions
Keeping organized aviary or breeder records
Reducing uncertainty in young or visually similar birds
Providing clearer documentation for customers or future breeding plans
Sample Type:
